ABOUT EMILY DAVIS
I am a marine and coastal specialist with Dillon Consulting Limited (Dillon) in Fredericton, New Brunswick. With a background in environmental sciences and environmental studies, my career interests focus on the complex relationships that exist between humans and the ocean. My interest in the marine environment was piqued early in my childhood as I grew up and spent significant time along the Northumberland Strait in Nova Scotia. As a technical practitioner, I have been able to further explore the integrated relationships that exist between humans and the ocean and apply this knowledge to help develop unique solutions. Underpinning themes to the majority of my work include the blue economy, marine spatial planning, coastal planning, risk, sustainability, and marine safety. In my work, I have supported the development of coastal and marine spatial plans in the Eastern Caribbean, contributed to the Canadian Science Advisory Secretariat (CSAS) process on dispersant use for oil spills in Canada, and contributed to projects focused on hazardous and noxious substances and cumulative effects assessment in the marine environment. I am keen to adapt and innovate into the future as a means to support the environmental sector and ocean sustainability, both domestically and abroad.
