ABOUT EMILY LEARMAN
My name is Emily I’m an American expat that packed up her life after college and moved to Berlin 3 years ago. I spent most of my childhood and adolescence longing for the foreign, for the unknown. By my teenage years I was taking every opportunity I could to travel abroad. To see new places and hear new tongues. And so after a Bachelor’s degree in the German language and a lifetime of craving the unfamiliar, I left Michigan behind for the chaos of Berlin. I am a dork for all things German 🤓 Not to mention I have a (relatively) healthy obsession with Germany’s lively capital. But.I will admit that some things in Berlin are not so sexy. Securing a visa, assimilating to German culture, and getting hired in this city are difficult to say the least I have learned from these experiences and I love sharing my wisdom (and sarcastic wit) with others struggling as an Ausländerin. While I consider myself first and foremost a writer, I have also gained experience in public relations, recruitment, and human resources. My hobbies include traveling, reading, and wearing only black
