ABOUT EMILY NGUYEN
I\'m a first generation college student and daughter of Vietnamese immigrants who\'s also the founder of San Diego\'s largest tech community, a Grace Hopper Scholar, and an MLH Top 50 Hacker.As an engineer, I\'m currently working at Google, where I am helping develop Design Systems and UI components for Google Cloud. I\'m also a well known hackathon participant, having won 24 awards across 24 hackathons including 1st Place Wins at SF Hacks, Liquid Hacks, HackUCI, HackUIowa, Citrus Hacks, and Runner Up Prizes at LA Hacks and HackSC.(https://emily.link/devpost)As a community organizer, I\'ve played roles in hosting 300+ events for people including engineering summer camps, industry panels, and programming workshops. Additionally I\'ve been a guest speaker at diversity events, an AP Computer Science class teacher, and a personal mentor to students who have gone to work at companies including Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Nvidia, and Google.Outside of work and extracurriculars, I spend most of my time traveling the world, running marathons, and fighting my partner for our cat’s attention.
