Work alongside an ophthalmologist during patient encounters, documenting exam findings (e.g, symptoms, refraction prescriptions), diagnoses, and treatment plans in real-time using the EMR VertexDr. Gaining familiarity with medical terminology, ocular anatomy, and common ocular pathologies (e.g, glaucoma, macular degeneration). Carry out diagnostic procedures, such as OCT imaging, visual field testing, and auto-refractions. Administer dilation drops as directed. Collect and document detailed patient histories, in both English and Spanish. This role provides invaluable insight into clinical decision-making and physician-patient communication, as well as bilingual patient care.
