About Emily Miller

Emily is a public servant, founder, and combat veteran. In her current role, she\'s responsible for leading the Governor\'s Operational Agenda for the State of Colorado.Previously, she led Twilio.org\'s Impact Fund, a $45M fund utilizing full-spectrum capital to fund digital disruptors and changemakers. Before that, she served as the Acting Director of the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the U.S. Department of Commerce, managing a grant portfolio that funded technology accelerators, incubators, and early-stage seed funds. Emily is co-founder and formerly the chief operating officer of Rumi Spice, a Y Combinator-backed and award-winning social enterprise that imports premium saffron directly from Afghan farmers. Rumi Spice was featured on Shark Tank and selected for Y Combinator\'s social fellowship program. Emily\'s work with Rumi Spice and as a CST has been featured in the New York Times, the Atlantic, Foreign Policy, NPR, Forbes, the Chicago Tribune, Nightline with Diane Sawyer, Voice of America, Food & Wine, and more. Emily served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. She led an engineer platoon in Iraq and served on two deployments to Afghanistan with the 75th Ranger Regiment as one of the first women with all-male Special Operations teams. Her Cultural Support Team was the subject of The New York Times bestseller, Ashley’s War. She earned her Bachelor of Science from West Point and a Master\'s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
