ABOUT EMILY EAKES

As a charismatic and collaborative people leader, I champion copywriting, design, video production, and content gathering with our in-house creative team and in-country journalists. I work with internal clients and stakeholders from marketing managers to executives to ensure brand and strategy alignment through omnichannel execution. A key part of my job is to understand philanthropic audiences and motivate them to act through emotional storytelling, testing, learning, and optimization. I am trusted throughout the organization and known for being a passionate, empathetic, and creative partner and leader. I was integral in the org re-brand starting in 2014 including brand foundation: mission, vision, values, visual identity, brand voice, and personality. We created and launched a new website in 2016 on time and under budget. In 2018, we won the People’s Voice Webby for The Websites and Mobile Sites in the Charitable Organizations/Non-Profit category.Later in 2018, I created a series of workshops to extend and strengthen our visual identity including leveling up our photography and video assets as well as expanding secondary graphics and typography. I lead our PSA work with an external agency including creative strategy, content trips, and directing creative for TV, radio, and out-of-home. Most recently, I participated in Breakthrough Innovation work to improve our retention rate in the first 90 days of the sponsorship journey. I was also part of a cross-departmental team responsible for naming and branding our signature workforce development product. A few other fun, noteworthy endeavors: I sit on a volunteer advisory committee for an area high school to provide insights into the creative industry for teachers who want to provide relevant curricula for their students. I designed the U.S. Navy license plate for the state of Virginia. I have taught art classes at the Mulvane Art Museum and I continue to create and exhibit fine art across the country.Strengths: leadership, empathy, conceptualization, strategic thinking, client presentations, layout and design development, photo retouching, logo design, brand and identity, creative problem solving
