About Emily de Schweinitz Taylor
Emily de Schweinitz Taylor is a certified mediator, developmental psychologist, author, and mother of five. After completing her Ph.D. at Brigham Young University, she served Utah Valley University as the ombuds and assistant director of conflict resolution. She is currently conducting postdoctoral research with Baylor University and the COST Project based in Europe, expanding her expertise at the intersection of psychology, social connection, and conflict resolution.Emily teaches university courses—such as mediation and history of psychology—as an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University. She is the host of Conflict Coach with Dr. Emily Taylor, a conflict coaching podcast now in its second season on BYU Radio.As a board member, she is active with the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution (UCCR) and serves as vice-chair of the Schweinitz Family Organization based in Germany. She also volunteers regularly as a civic dialogue moderator with Braver Angels, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to political depolarization.Her educational background includes master’s degrees from the University of Chicago (international policy) and the University of Denver (conflict resolution). Previously, she served as the assistant director of Brigham Young University (BYU) Law’s Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution. Over the years, she has been a regular speaker in a variety of community settings and a frequent guest on BYU Radio.Emily has authored two books on conflict resolution principles: Conflict Fluent: Mastering the Five Conflict Approaches and Raising Mediators: How Smart Parents Use Mediation to Transform Sibling Conflict and Empower Their Children.
