ABOUT EMILY DE CRUZ HOFER

I have done community service regularly since the seventh grade because I discovered that I am extremely passionate about serving the community around me. I\'ve volunteered in various places from church food pantries to near river beds for environmental projects with the Walla Walla Stream Team. I developed many of my skills through my volunteer experiences over the years before I secured my first job. My first job was being a cashier and server at Cleveland Commons, the Whitman College dining hall, which was during my first year of college. There, I had the opportunities to develop my skills further, particularly my communication skills and my ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently. After I started my job at Cleveland, I started another campus job as a desk staff member at the campus climbing gym during the second semester of my first year in college. I oriented new climbers to the facility, in which I further developed my skills as an instructor. My other responsibilities were distributing rental gear, checking people in, and coming around the facility to check to make sure people were following the safety rules. I also enjoy performing various organizational tasks, planning events, and being in the outdoors. I am looking forward to securing a job with many of my passions!
