About Emily Crego

I am a librarian transitioning from an international development and consulting career. In my career, I have tackled the complexities of government and donor procurements to develop well-written, winning, and compelling proposals for international development programs. I have learned to distill and share knowledge and information about complex systems in manageable ways. My career has allowed me to travel the world and to meet and engage with people from all backgrounds who consistently challenge my perspectives. Exploring and sharing knowledge—and the relationships that we build in this exploration—is a fundamental part of how I’ve grown as an individual and professional. As a librarian, I am passionate about libraries as cultural and community centers and the importance of open access, intellectual freedom, and information as a public good. I believe librarianship is a practice of constant and lifelong learning, a practice of seeking justice through sharing a multitude of voices and stories, and a practice of consistently working to facilitate access to free information and knowledge. I bring these values to my evolving work as a public librarian and an aspiring archivist.
