About Emily A.
I have worked as a CPA for nearly 15 years, first in public accounting at Deloitte & Touche and now at Zillow Group. During my time at Deloitte, I specialized in revenue recognition, helping my client (a large, multinational technology company) with its early adoption of ASC 606, which had a material impact to the financial statements. In addition to revenue recognition, I had the opportunity to advise on a myriad of complex technical issues such a M&A activity, segment reporting, goodwill impairment analyses, and material revenue deferrals.I was then recruited to Zillow and led the adoption of ASC 606 here. Since the successful adoption, my role has expanded into anything and everything technical accounting, with topics ranging from material debt and stock offerings, to revenue recognition analyses on new products and promotions, to M&A and purchase accounting, among other unusual partnerships and complex transactions. I regularly collaborate with Zillow\'s other teams on organization-impacting transactions, strategic decisions, and the impact of new product releases.
