Inside Logistics magazine (formerly MM & D) is written for supply chain operations managers with a focus on distribution centre and warehousing operations, inventory control, storage, order processing, equipment and processes. Our editorial mandate is to inform, educate and help readers do their jobs more cost effectively. ABOUT EMILY ATKINS
I am a professional writer and editor with 25+ years of experience crafting clear, concise messages for diverse organizations and audiences. My background includes working to help trade & consumer magazines, newspapers, corporate clients, the federal government, associations, and charitable organizations communicate better, in Canada and around the world. I focus on supply chain management, automotive, and waste management. As current editor of Inside Logistics and Waste & Recycling, I assign and write features and news for print and online. I also write white papers, case studies and blogs for corporate clients. I am an accomplished moderator, having organized and hosted numerous roundtables and panels. I am a regular freelance car reviewer and auto industry analyst for The Globe & Mail, and other automotive outlets. Previously, I wrote for the Toronto Star and edited Fleet Management and Canadian Automotive Review, as well as editing Provinz, the magazine of the Upper Canada Region of the Porsche Club of America (PCA). Under my leadership Provinz won the 2014 Betty Jo Turner Award for the best magazine in the 141 regions of the PCA. I\'m a successful amateur race driver. With my vintage 1982 Porsche 911SC I won the 2014 VARAC G-70G drivers\' championship and in 2015 placed second, in both years winning the Toyo Tires championship. In 2015 I bought a race-prepped 1994 BMW M3. In 2016 I took home third place in the VARAC class championship and in 2017 placed second for the season. In 2018 I won the CASC-OR endurance racing championship in the GT-4 class. In 2022 I won the VARAC Classic 2 championship. A more recent career development has been taking the skills learned behind the wheel to offering coaching and in-car performance driving instruction, as well as orientation and demonstration of new vehicle models for dealers. Specialties: Clear, concise, insightful writing and editing; issue analysis; thought leadership programs, leading workshops and seminars, automotive coaching.
