About Emily Wilson
Dr. Emily Wilson has more than 35 years of experience the majority of which have been with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or its national laboratories in the planning and execution of DOE mission objectives, resulting in high-impact outcomes. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy from Capella University School of Business and Technology with a specialization in Leadership. Her research studies examined the critical success factors of scientific leaders required to lead and inspire others in highly technical, complex, competitive, and innovative environments and how R&D organizations can gain knowledge and improve their science and engineering leadership development and mentoring programs, specifically geared toward scientific leadership early in a scientist’s career. In her current role, she supports multiple directorates including National Security, Energy and Environment, and Operational Systems in advancing DOE’s mission based on her leadership, ability to communicate effectively, and adaptability to changing priorities. She embraces and leverages diversity of thought, supporting a broad range of sponsors, people, roles and perspectives. She provides expertise to support strategic laboratory initiatives on diverse projects to enable scientific and technological innovation. Before joining PNNL in 2008, she provided expertise in roles at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LLNL) at the Joint Shock Physics Experimental Research (JASPER) Facility at the Nevada National Security Site resulting in numerous National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) excellence awards for her contributions pertaining to science-based stockpile stewardship. She also provided leadership at Argonne National Laboratory, served functions with DOE’s Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management, Department of Defense, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration. She earned her PhD in Organization and Management/Leadership from Capella University and completed her MBA and BS in Business Management at the University of Phoenix.
