About Emily Williams
I have followed a dual path in my career working professionally as a glass artist and teaching in higher education. As a visual artist, I have developed a body of work focused on glass coral reef life forms. My process is complex and labor intensive demanding a strong commitment to the vision and follow through. In higher education, I have followed a unique path in teaching studio sculpture, 3D design, and art lecture courses. Since 2002, I have been teaching online art courses which has involved considerable skills in course design, development and delivery. Online instruction and course design brought together my backgrounds in visual art, design and a passion for technology. Through the years, I have developed extensive technology skills in using multiple LMS, Adobe CC, Adobe Captivate, video editing, web design, and online course development. Recently at Va Tech, I completed my Master of Arts in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with specialization in Instructional Technology. As I move forward down my dual pathways of art and design, I will continue bridging technology, instructional design, and the creative arts.
