About Emily Tunget
The advancement of scientific knowledge and those who contribute to it have always been an inspiration to me. I have never been one to accept the short answer and am always asking new questions. The field of biochemistry appealed to me because it was where the molecular application of chemistry met the world of human health. Earning my Ph.D. in the molecular sciences was motivated by my desire to find new health solutions through my research. Being able to put theories into practice and to test my ideas opened my eyes to the world of scientific possibilities- I am comfortable executing the entire protein production and purification pipeline, as well as designing experiments to test the functionality of the protein of interest- I am well-versed in a range of biophysical techniques including analytical ultracentrifugation, small-angle x-ray scattering, and surface plasmon resonance- My data analysis and molecular modeling skills have allowed me to publish my work in peer-reviewed journals- I have experience communicating my scientific work to a variety of audiences through seminars, poster talks, and international conferences. As for my careerpath, I have recently transitioned to the world of industry research, specifically immunoassay development. Scientific research can be unyielding, but these challenges push me to be a better scientist.
