About Emily Tait

I’m an IP and technology lawyer with a focus on artificial intelligence, generative AI, and emerging technologies. I help clients navigate AI-related legal risks, develop IP protection and enforcement strategies, and stay ahead of key developments arising at the intersection of AI and IP. I co-lead Jones Day’s global AVAIR (Autonomous Vehicles, AI & Robotics) team and recently co-chaired the Michigan Judicial Council’s GenAI Working Group. I frequently write and speak about AI and other hot topics in IP.My practice spans complex IP litigation, strategic counseling, and transactional work involving trade secrets, data, patents, copyrights, and cybersecurity. A registered patent attorney, I also have an advanced degree in international IP and post-graduate certification in AI. I co-founded the Michigan IP American Inn of Court and have served on the Board for the Federal Circuit Bar Association. I also maintain an active pro bono practice and serve on Jones Day’s Inclusion and Advancement Committee.
