ABOUT EMILY SUTHERLAND
Emily Sutherland is the Director of the Office of College and University Evaluation (OCUE) at the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and has 20 years of experience in higher education. Emily joined NYSED in 2017, initially focusing on state authorization activities, including New York’s SARA membership. As Director of OCUE, she now leads a team that regulates over 250 NYS degree-granting institutions and the programs of study they offer. Prior to joining NYSED, she worked at several institutions of higher education, primarily in academic advisement. When she’s not regulating colleges, Emily enjoys knitting and crocheting.
