About Emily Rose
Focusing on abilities and advocating for human rights is my passion and life purpose. If it’s not working towards these basic goals, it’s not for me! I have worked in Human Services for the past decade with a focus in Developmental Disabilities. Like many, I worked my way up in this field, starting in direct support.I have worked with children as young as two, older adults, and all phases of life in between. I have worked in various settings including community based, in-home, ABA centers, Special Education focused schools, group homes, and adult day programs. I have experience with a range of different abilities including Autism, Down Syndrome, Turner Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Galactosemia, Alzheimer’s, Visually Impaired, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s, and non-specified Intellectual Disability. Up until my life got even more busy, volunteering was a large part of my identity. I spent time at Pathways for Children (Gloucester MA) mentoring for at-risk youth and assisted in their Infant and Toddler program. I spent time at the Boys and Girls Club of America. At the Salem MA location I participated in Homework Club and in Harlem NY I assisted with fun, special events. At Horizons for Homeless Children, I visited various shelters to lead play groups. At the Baltimore Maryland Convention Center, I had the honor of serving over people Thanksgiving Dinner. But the organization that is most personal to me, and the one I try not to miss to this day, is Miss Amazing Inc. Over the years, I have attended Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut events being a Buddy, a Judge, and an Emcee. One year I even took the trip out to Chicago for their National event which was *amazing*!
