The William P. Clements, Jr. Center for National Security at The University of Texas at Austin trains the next generation of national security leaders through history, strategy, and statecraft. The Center is a nonpartisan research and policy hub within The University of Texas at Austin\'s Office of the President. Since 2013, it has prepared graduate and undergraduate students for careers in defense, diplomacy, intelligence, and national security policy — bridging the gap between historical scholarship and the decisions policymakers face today. What we do: —Graduate and undergraduate fellowship programs that place students in national security careers across government, military, intelligence, and the private sector —A public events program bringing senior military commanders, diplomats, intelligence professionals, and scholars to Austin for substantive policy discussions —Research support through the Texas National Security Review and partnerships with leading security studies centers nationwide —Study-away programs that take students to military installations, allied capitals, and policy institutions around the world The Center is named for former Texas Governor William P. Clements, Jr, who served as Deputy Secretary of Defense from 1973 to 1977. Clements brought a deep appreciation for history to every aspect of his leadership, and the Center carries that commitment forward.
