About Emily Minarchek
I am the Director of Behavioral Health for the UC Health system, an academic medical center. In short, my role entails supervising our psychotherapists, advocating for psychotherapist needs within our system, writing and updating associated policies and procedures, and other management tasks. As a practicing psychologist at UC, I also see patients at our main campus and at the UC West Chester Women\'s Center. My clinic specializes in outpatient reproductive psychiatry, meaning we provide specialized outpatient services for women who are pregnant, postpartum, or struggling with stress or mood disorders secondary to infertility or perinatal loss. I deliver mental health intake assessments, engage patients in individual and group therapy, provide consultation, teach, and engage trainees in supervision at various levels. I provide evidence-based treatments (e.g, ACT, CPT, PE, DBT, IPT, CBT) for PTSD and other mental health disorders; however, my approach is integrative with a focus on interpersonal process and multicultural/diversity elements critical to effective care. I am board certified in Counseling Psychology. I spent two years after obtaining my undergraduate degree teaching in Houston through TeachForAmerica. I have a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dayton and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston. My doctoral practicum experiences were varied and included assessment in an inpatient hospital, psychological services in a federal detention center, and outpatient and residential trauma work as well as primary care in the VA system. During my APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral experiences, I gained competency in PTSD assessment, research, and group and individual evidence-based trauma-focused therapy. Further, I gained experience in dual diagnosis in PTSD and was trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as part of a full DBT treatment program. After licensure, I was previously the PTSD telehealth staff psychologist at the Houston VAMC and was a trauma psychologist on the Research Care Line of the Cincinnati VAMC. Specialties: Trauma, PTSD, Women\'s Health and Mental Health, Reproductive and Perinatal Psychology, Veterans, Culturally Competent Assessment and Treatment
