About Emily McMains

STEM educator and program leader with a passion for fostering efficient and creative progress in life science research through building inclusive, supportive, and effective scientific and educational communities where everyone has a seat at the table, regardless of demographic identity. I have broad experience engaging high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty communities in life science research, professional development, research mentorship and leadership training. As a former neurophysiology and developmental genetics researcher and college instructor, I also possess broad familiarity with the literature and practice of these scientific disciplines.

   I am responsible for building IPI\'s science education program by working closely with our scientists to develop, implement and manage a broad range of educational programming- Working with our antibody discovery team, managed planning and logistics for a week-long, hands-on laboratory course on yeast display technology for graduate, postdoctoral, and faculty researchers- Developed and implemented a mini-course on automated liquid handling and Python coding for undergraduates in collaboration with IPI\'s automation and laboratory operations team.
