About Emily Louie
Hello! My name is Emily and I am an aspiring microbiologist currently attending ACPHS for my Microbiology Bachelor\'s. I intend on getting my Master\'s in Molecular Biosciences through the dual degree program as well. Currently, I am doing undergraduate research in biopharmaceutical process development and product analysis using CHO cells that produce an anti-RSV monoclonal antibody. Through this project I will be analyzing how different bioprocess parameters impact product yield through various factors including supplementation and fed batch methods. Depending on these factors, the impact on gene expression will also be evaluated.I have loved science for a while, competing in multiple science competitions/events and participating in clubs since Middle School. I am interested in looking into the various biopharmaceutical industry departments ranging from quality control to research and development. I love the idea of being able to have an impact on others behind the scenes through the development of medicine while ensuring patient safety. Pursuing challenges that seem impossible and finding solutions are goals I have in mind when tackling projects or day to day activities.After interning at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals my sophomore year, I am very interested in my career path of being in the industry. I would love to hear more about the different departments in the biopharmaceutical industry to learn which one would be the best match for me.
