Volunteering as a doula through UNC Birth Partners has allowed me to support people during one of the most intense and meaningful moments of their lives. Some of the patients I work with don’t have a support person, so I step in to offer reassurance, comfort, and information throughout their labor. I take time to learn what’s important to them, what kind of birth they hope for, and do my best to honor that. Whether offering physical support during contractions or passing key details to the next doula, I stay focused on making sure the patient feels heard and cared for every step of the way.
