About Emily Jones
I am head of the US office of Simmons & Simmons in San Francisco. I am an English law qualified lawyer and have worked in Silicon Valley for over eight years advising fast growth technology, fintech and healthcare companies on data privacy, cyber security and technology laws as they grow their businesses internationally. Our US office is here in timezone to support US start ups and fast growth technology companies with their international operations and expansion. I have worked with over 100 companies to support them with timely, business friendly and actionable advice as they set up new operations, manage existing business overseas, and launch new products and services into new markets around the world. With my colleagues across our offices in Asia, Europe and the Middle we can support on all of the legal issues that companies need to address and we bring market leading expertise to help companies navigate the complexities of doing business overseas. I advise on data privacy related laws including GDPR and help clients to navigate the increasingly complex global data privacy landscape. As well as carrying out GDPR compliance health checks, I advise clients on the launch of new products and services, especially those involving AI/ML, IOT, cyber security, data analytics, and cloud software. I help clients respond to investigations from regulators, data security incidents and data subject requests, and also to negotiate arrangements with customers and vendors. I also advise clients on solutions to address evolving international data transfer issues.
