WORK HISTORY
Geotechnical Engineer & Geologist @Kleinschmidt Associates
Falmouth, ME, US
During my experience in this position I have performed various tasks related to geotechnical investigations of earthen embankments and dams. These tasks include drilling/excavation oversight, borehole and test pit logging, rock and soil collection and analysis, and instrument installation and monitoring (standpipe and vibrating wire piezometers). I have observed types of drilling including hollow stem auger, solid stem auger, mud rotary, drive-and-wash, and sonic coring, with Standard Penetration Tests (SPTs) and sampling using split spoons or Shelby tubes. I have also performed dam safety and condition inspections of concrete, timber crib, and embankment water-retaining structures. I have performed slope stability and seepage analyses using GeoStudio for earthen dams/embankments and stability analyses for concrete structures using in-house software. I have performed several calculations for embankments and other water retaining structures including ones for filter compatibility, bearing capacity, concrete-bedrock interface friction, riprap sizing, settlement, rock anchors, and weighted creep. I have drafted and assisted in the preparation of several reports and letters for submittal to the FERC, including Drilling Program Plans (DPP), Dam Safety Surveillance Monitoring Plans and Reports (DSSMP/R), Part 12D Inspection Reports, Supporting Technical Information Documents (STID), Potential Failure Modes Analysis (PFMA) reports, and Geotechnical Investigation Summary reports.
