ABOUT EMILY COPPEL
Emily has nearly fifteen years of experience in strategic communications and program management in the global development sector. Emily is currently Director of Policy, Advocacy, and Communications for Food at The Rockefeller Foundation and Adjunct Lecturer at CUNY. She was formerly the Director of Strategic Communications at IDinsight, a data analytics and research organization that advances evidence-informed policy making in Africa and Asia where she oversaw a nine-person communications team. Emily was the Director of Strategic Communications for the US affiliate of BRAC, the world\'s largest NGO based in Bangladesh reaching 120 million people. At BRAC USA, she oversaw communications, outreach, and public fundraising. She increased its donor base by 9x, secured number one NGO award three years running as well as the World Food Prize, and Yidan Education prize for its founder.Earlier in her career, Emily was a freelance reporter and began a start-up youth skills development non-profit operating in South Africa\'s townships. She has cross-sector experience in food systems, global health, education, financial inclusion, technology for development, youth empowerment, extreme poverty, and humanitarian response. She has worked in Bangladesh, Kenya, Nepal, Liberia, India, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. She has a degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
