About Emily Carroll

I graduated in May 2013 from Claremont McKenna College with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies and a minor in Leadership. From 2013 to 2018, I worked in public relations at a marketing firm in Chicago, Edelman. Initially, I worked internally for Edelman on their New Business and Marketing team, and then switched to client side where I worked within their health department. In July 2018 I left Edelman to pursue nursing. From 2018 to 2019, I worked part-time as an administrative assistant in the healthcare industry while completing prerequisite nursing courses at College of Lake County. Following completion of my prerequisite courses, I enrolled at Loyola University Chicago\'s Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing. I was a nursing student in their ABSN program from 2019 to 2021, and graduated in May 2021. From September 2021 through November 2022, I worked at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab as a Registered Nurse on their Bone, Nerve & Muscle floor. After about a year and quarter months doing inpatient nursing I decided to switch over to outpatient nursing. From December 2022 to October 2024, I worked as a Registered Nurse at Lurie Children\'s Hospital in Chicago in their ambulatory orthopedic clinics. I assisted in multiple types of clinics, including pediatric upper and lower extremity injuries, sports injuries, spina bfida, scoliosis and brachial plexus, as well as a few neuromuscular clinics. Specifically, I supported nurse practitioners and surgeons with clinic visits and minor clinic procedures (e.g. nubbin ligations, wound dressings, etc.) I\'ve also assisted in patient surgical preparation (providing forms, going through medical history/medications, education and pre-op guidelines prior to surgery), triage in post-op care and post-op visits/follow-up. My husband got a job in the suburbs of Minneapolis, so I left my last job at Lurie\'s and living in South Minneapolis. Currently, I\'m looking for an outpatient nursing job in one of the following specialties (considering both pediatrics and adult care): orthopedics, rehabilitation, neuromuscular, dermatology, endocrinology, ENT, cardiology, community health and/or research.
