Emily holds a BA in Sociology from UNC-Charlotte and an MSW from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her expertise spans clinical and macro level work, centered on serving survivors of interpersonal violence and driving systems-level change.Emily\'s interests intersect with her experience in trauma, human trafficking, and organizational development across client-facing, organizational, and community settings. Her competencies and skills include interagency collaboration and networking, leadership and team coordination, relationship management, trauma-informed care, training/education, public speaking and presentation, clinical skills, and advocacy.Emily’s diverse skill set is further demonstrated through various volunteer-based commitments and work experiences, including guest lecturing at academic institutions, assisting with design/implementation of leadership development and training programs, presenting to military personnel and law enforcement agencies, launching community support initiatives, and nonprofit fundraising and event coordination. She is passionate about and known for her ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, lead teams, provide trauma-informed care, educate others, and advocate for survivors of sexual/domestic violence and human trafficking.

   Develop and sustain a quality multidisciplinary Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) in Mecklenburg County to improve system level responses to sexual violence- Foster effective interagency collaboration to generate a coordinated response and ensure comprehensive, integrative training to fully meet needs of survivors in the community- Facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings and ensure coordination of ongoing activities and administrative needs of the SART- Navigate as a liaison between agency staff and community partners to improve programs, training, and culturally sensitive services- Provide weekly individual and group counseling for survivors of sexual and domestic violence- Provide trauma-informed and client-centered intake, assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning for survivors- Collaborate with victim advocates and various stakeholders to ensure coordinated client care with community partners- Assist in managing event planning and coordination of countywide networking/training events for community partners- Guest lecturing and speaking at academic institutions on sexual assault, teen dating violence, agency services, grief and loss, and reclaiming sexual health after sexual trauma- Curriculum development and group facilitation of a therapy group focused on assisting sexual trauma survivors in reclaiming sexual health, intimacy, and pleasure- Invited to present to the State Bureau of Investigation’s Behavioral Threat Assessment Unit on multidisciplinary teamwork and fostering collaborative relationships- Coordinated local SART partners to present and share expertise at the NC National Guard continuing education conference- Presented to National Guard victim advocates from across the country on assisting sexual trauma survivors in reclaiming sexual health.
