As Head of Energy Research at Standard Chartered, I lead the bank’s energy macro research platform, providing analysis and strategic insight on the major forces shaping global energy markets. My role focuses on interpreting developments across oil, gas, the energy transition and wider macroeconomic trends, helping clients and internal stakeholders understand market direction, pricing drivers, risks and commercial opportunities. A core part of the role is communicating these views clearly and credibly to Standard Chartered’s broad client base, including commodities traders, airlines, oil and gas companies, miners, shipping groups, hedge funds and other major market participants. This involves producing high-level research, market commentary and thematic analysis that combines deep sector knowledge with quantitative thinking, while ensuring the work remains practical, timely and relevant to decision-makers operating in fast-moving global markets. Alongside leading research output, I help shape the wider strategic positioning of the franchise through regular engagement with senior stakeholders, external communication of market views, and a strong focus on research that is both analytically rigorous and commercially useful. I am also regularly featured in leading financial media, including the Financial Times, Bloomberg and other major news outlets. Internally, I also serve as Head of AI Research Initiatives, helping drive the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning across the research function.
