ABOUT EMILY AKINOLA

I can build that! Growing up on a farm my mom’s favorite line was “I can build that!” I embraced her adventurous and crafty spirit as I became her loyal apprentice mending horse fences and building peacock coops. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, before moving to Germany where I spent my early childhood. Eventually my dad’s career brought us to Indiana where I spent my formative years growing up on a farm. This collection of experiences gave me a unique perspective on different urban and rural world cultures, eventually attracting me to the world of business where I could build something of my own. In 2007, I earned a degree in management with a concentration in marketing from Purdue University. Following Purdue, I completed GE Healthcare\'s two-year financial management program, combining finance and strategy classes with hands-on corporate experience. After graduating from the program in 2010, I moved to Boston, Massachusetts to become the Site Finance Leader for GE ONI, an MRI diagnostic imaging company. I went to work for Boston Consulting Group in 2011 and in 2015 I was promoted to Finance Manager of the Boston office managing the finance team and operations. In order to achieve process automation and systems enhancement successes for my team, I took graduate-level programming, database, and enterprise architecture strategy classes at Bentley University to enhance my IT skillset. I pursued my dream and started my own cannabis infusion business EM & ADE in 2018. Prior to COVID we operated a brick & mortar and now exclusively sell our products online. I returned to BCG’s Value-Based Pricing team fulltime in 2020 managing BCG’s largest, complex value-based deal arrangements while managing my business on the side. My specialties include quickly learning new skills, leadership, financial management and strategy, information systems, operations, starting a business in a challenging industry and entrepreneurial spirit. I am passionate about business and mentorship.
