About Emily Clements

I am a postdoctoral researcher at Southern Nevada Water Authority, where I develop and use models to assess and improve water quality. I work with quantitative microbial risk assessment to determine the likelihood of infection from waterborne pathogens and also use machine learning to predict events where water quality might be compromised. I received my PhD at the University of Notre Dame in the environmental engineering program. My research is microbiology focused, with 2 main research areas. The first, which was my masters research, was on exploring how membrane aerated biofilms are affected by different process parameters. My dissertation is focused on modeling drinking water quality in premise plumbing systems. During my time in graduate school, I\'ve presented in 9 conferences, both domestic and international, including the IWA Biofilms 2022 Conference in Phuket, Thailand and published in peer-reviewed journals. My undergraduate was also done at the University of Notre Dame, where I graduated with honors in chemical engineering.
