About 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development (R&D), neuroscience, drug discovery strategy, translational medicine, experimental medicine, clinical safety, clinical pharmacology, personalized medicine, neuroimaging, biomarkers, neuropharmacology, neurobiology, molecular mechanisms, surrogate endpoints, modeling, simulation, academia-industry consortia, clinical trials, project team, leadership, management, portfolio strategy, regulatory agency, FDA, EMA, pharmaceutical development, digital health, digital technology, digital medicine, digital biomarkers.Industrial experience as vice president, executive director, portfolio strategy director, department manager, head of biotech-like unit, project team leader, and clinical team leader in large R&D Pharma matrix organizations. Held adjunct professor roles at the university of Verona and Brescia, and currently at the Imperial College, London.As clinical expert, he was involved of over 30 clinical trials in Phase 1 and Phase 2 in the therapeutic areas of psychiatry, neurology, CNS rare diseases, respiratory, endocrinology, including implementation of biomarkers in Phase 3 clinical trials. His areas of scientific interests included neuropeptides, dopamine, nicotinic receptors, ion channels, neuroinflammation, cytokines, neuronal plasticity, anxiety, depression, nutrition, addiction, neurodegeneration, epileptic encephalopathies, autism, epigenetic regulation, inducible pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), advance digital health, digital medicine, digital devices.Emilio Merlo Pich obtained his medical degree and specialization degree in Neurology at University of Bologna, Italy. He trained at University of Modena, Parma, Stockholm (Karolinska) and Mario Negri Insititute, Milan. He is co-author of 180 peer reviewed articles, member associated to ECNP, SIF and fellow of the ACNP. He is fluent in English, Italian and French.
