ABOUT EMILIE LUMLEY
Hi I’m Emilie, and I’m passionate about advocacy and creating spaces where everyone has the opportunity to develop a positive identity and thrive. My journey has taken me through the charity and public sectors, from supporting communications and autism psychoeducation service development, to my new role with Hartlepool Borough Council as a Targeted Employability & Volunteering Officer. I empower autistic and/or disabled adults to access meaningful work and volunteering opportunities. My psychology background (BSc Hons, Newcastle University), my lived experience of as a neurodivergent woman, and my commitment to person-centred, affirming support have all contributed to my understanding of the inseparable relationship of vocation and identity, wellbeing, and belonging.Along the way, I have explored mindfulness, self-compassion, and resilience research with MindfulnessUK, led the Psychology Society at Newcastle University, and taught English at N.E.S.T. I embody an intersectional, autistic identity and, in my spare time, I enjoy travelling to immerse myself in new cultures, reading critical theory, engaging with psychology research and EDI initiatives, as well as exploring various forms of music and art.All of these experiences have deepened my commitment to building a more inclusive and compassionate world. If you share that vision, I would love to connect 🤗.Views are all my own, and not necessarily reflective of my employer\'s views.
