About Emery Ku

Research and product development engineer and Fulbright scholar with a passion for cross-disciplinary collaboration to solve real-world problems. My expertise spans a range of subject areas, from acoustics, DSP and fiber optics to the biomechanics of hearing. I have a proven track record of technical leadership and holding roles of increasing responsibility.I have more than 18 years of academic and industrial expertise applying MATLAB to extract key information from large sets of acoustic sensor data. My technical contributions at OptaSense helped secure major R&D contracts across a range of applications: Anti-Submarine Warfare through the DARPA-funded Deep Sea OPerations program; automated condition monitoring of rolling stock for the railroad industry; and the revolutionary ability to localize down-hole micro-seismic and cross-well events in real time for oil and gas production. My roles at Bose have involved research into novel adaptive filtering algorithms for the control of noise in automobiles and the productization of advanced noise cancellation techniques for headphones.After graduating with a B.S. in Engineering and minors in music and Asian studies from Swarthmore College in 2005, I accepted a Fulbright Postgraduate Award to pursue a Ph.D. in England.
