About Emelia Armstead

Emelia is an accomplished organizational communications specialist with 7+ years of experience, and a focus on equity and inclusion. After receiving her bachelor\'s degree in Public Relations from the renowned S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Emelia spent three years in various administrative roles with the educational equity organization Teach For America, where she continued to hone skills in: relationship building, strategic communication, public speaking, training and adult education, email management, data entry and analysis, presentation design, and more. Emelia has long had a passion for making the world a more equitable and inclusive place, and is constantly seeking opportunities to leverage her communications skills to advance these goals. Currently, Emelia works as an HR Assistant in California\'s exciting and ever-changing cannabis industry. In this role, she looks forward to continuing to use her communications expertise to better the world around her, specifically through: creating learning experiences to increase awareness about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion among staff, reviewing policies to determine how our systems and processes could be more equitable, creating a culture of inclusion for all identities, and working to remove barriers that have historically excluded marginalized groups from access to resources, support and advancement.
