ABOUT AKHIL K SINGH
I work at the intersection of embodied education, selfhood, and liberatory pedagogies, exploring how learning transforms when it becomes rooted in lived experience, presence, and autonomy. My research brings together educational philosophy, psychology, decolonial thought, and human-centred pedagogy to ask a simple but foundational question:What kind of education enables a person to live freely, meaningfully, and fully? My doctoral work at IIT Jodhpur examined education for the embodied human—a philosophical and psychological inquiry into how the body, mind, and environment co-shape learning. My broader interests include teacher agency, inclusive and equitable pedagogy, alternative schooling, NEP 2020 interpretation, and the future of Indian education.I am currently building the Shiksha Swaraj Initiative, a movement-in-the-making dedicated to dialogues, research, and pedagogical practices that centre embodiment, selfhood, and educational liberation. Through this work, I aim to nurture a community of educators, researchers, and practitioners exploring new pathways for Indian education.Areas I engage with:• Embodied Education & 4E Cognition• Decolonial & Liberatory Pedagogies• Philosophy & Psychology of Education• Teacher Agency & Human-Centred Learning• Alternative Schools & Innovative Pedagogies• Educational Policy and Public ReasoningI welcome collaborations, conversations, and partnerships with educators, researchers, schools, and anyone interested in shaping educational futures rooted in meaning and freedom.Let’s connect.
