About Erica Mattellone

With over 20 years of experience in international development, I am Chief of Institutional Effectiveness at UNICEF’s Evaluation Office, leading multidisciplinary teams to strengthen systems, policies, and programs for children worldwide. Previously, I served as Chief of Social Policy and Evaluation in UNICEF Madagascar and as UNICEF’s first multi-country evaluation specialist, managing evaluation and research portfolios across Cambodia, Malaysia, and Myanmar. My leadership experience also includes serving as Deputy Representative in Jamaica and global roles in humanitarian evaluation and emergency response. Before UNICEF, I worked with UNDP in Sudan and South Sudan, the European Commission, UNIDO, and international NGOs in Albania and Chad. I hold an Executive Master in Public Administration, a Master’s in Anthropology and Development from LSE, and a degree in Political Science from the University of Trieste. I am passionate about evidence-informed decision-making, inclusive leadership, and empowering teams to drive meaningful change, values I carry from my roots in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy.
