About Elyse Newland
I\'m an Occupational Therapist and Certified Stroke Rehab Specialist on a mission to provide stroke survivors with free, high-quality, and evidence-based recovery education. I hold a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I\'ve worked across the U.S. as a travel therapist and in skilled nursing facilities, home health care, and teletherapy.In 2019, my perspective on healthcare changed profoundly after my grandmother had a stroke. Our family\'s experience in the healthcare system was traumatic, and I learned that it was not unique. I realized there was a huge need for continued support for stroke survivors and their families after going home from the hospital. This realization led to the creation of Post Stroke in 2020, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to provide free, high-quality, easy-to-understand, and evidence-based stroke recovery education. Instead of creating useless medical brochures no one reads, Post Stroke meets stroke survivors on the platforms they already use, like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. I\'m so proud of our progress and look forward to helping even more stroke survivors across the globe!
