ABOUT ELS VAN DER MEULEN
When studying logistics at school I never knew it would bring me on my current journey. Always interested in learning and experiencing new things I signed up for an exchange program which allowed me to study abroad. Having experienced studying but also working together with different cultures and personalities, I realized this was something that I liked to do in my professional life as well. After working 10 years in one of the biggest ports in Europe, Antwerp, having dealt with several national and international customers, even branching out to working at BruCargo, which is the cargo side of Brussels airport, an opportunity came up to move across the Atlantic Ocean starting a new adventure in Canada. In Canada I started working for a global recognized forwarder. Starting as an agent I eventually moved into a leadership role focussed on customer service and operations. During this time, I also had the opportunity to be part of the Transport Management System deployment for the Toronto station and, in addition to my management role, am also a trainer, superuser and topic expert. Leading, training, problem solving and process improvement became my new passion. Outside my professional life I like to travel and experience new cultures and their food.
