As a Trainee Secondary English Teacher, I am developing my practice in delivering engaging, inclusive, and inspiring English lessons to students across Years 7 to 10. My role allows me to combine a passion for literature and language with a commitment to helping young people grow in confidence, curiosity, and creativity.In the classroom, I plan and deliver thoughtfully structured lessons that encourage students to think critically about texts, experiment with their own writing, and express their ideas clearly. I use a range of strategies to support different learning styles: from discussion-based exploration to visual and creative tasks, ensuring that every learner can access and enjoy English.Assessment plays a key role in my teaching. I use both formative (PIN tasks) and summative assignments to track progress, identify strengths, and address areas for development encouraging self reflection. By adapting my teaching based on this insight, I aim to help each student achieve their full potential.Beyond the classroom, I work closely with colleagues and my mentor to reflect on my practice and continuously improve my pedagogy. I also take pride in contributing to wider school life, whether through open evenings, department initiatives, or literacy-based enrichment activities (collective reading) that promotes leisurely reading.This role has strengthened my belief in the power of English to inspire, connect, and empower young people. Every lesson is an opportunity to help students find their voice and see how language can shape the way they understand the world.

ABOUT ELOISE CROWDER
I am a secondary English teacher at Baysgarth School, currently completing my PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with Bath Spa University. I graduated from Newcastle University with a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature (Upper 2:1).I am passionate about teaching English and creating supportive, engaging classrooms where students are encouraged to think critically, develop confidence, and enjoy language and literature.Alongside teaching, I volunteer with Sunflowers Children’s Action Group, supporting work that makes a positive difference for children and families.I also run Girls Get Out Grimsby, a non-profit community group that brings local women together through organised activities and events. I host meet-ups, create event promotions, and work with local businesses, with the aim of fostering friendship and helping to combat loneliness.I am committed to my role as a teacher and genuinely enjoy the work I do, valuing reflection, collaboration, and continuous development in both my professional and community work.
