As a new Product Development Engineer, I had the opportunity to become Exterior Hoods Team Lead which covers the Front End Systems at Navistar Mexico Technical Center with direct contact with Navistar Corporate Headquarters. My work over the last years spans across different activities: product development, design, form, fit & function, trial installations & tests, new product introduction which includes: pilots in production line, modeling through reverse engineering, support scanning, support metrology, direct contact with suppliers for new product development & for quality, field research, gathering key information to solve plant & field issues, improvement of the design & performance of existing products through field data, cost reduction projects and support to supplier issues. The role I assume as team lead, became both critical from the customer experience, as well as from the technical implementation, handling a team to make quick modifications or support trials at plant and receiving customer issues with special parts. In my position I directly report to a chief engineer for the front-end systems at Navistar Headquarters. Some courses I took have served to develop key skills to solve any problems. Also, implement new work instructions or develop parts, fixtures & solution to plant, field and supplier issues, etc. Finally I’ve been working directly with Navistar Headquarters Front end systems team as they have the confidence for me and the team to work on new programs and through the whole development for the new products, these projects has been a major jump as a team given to we work on actual new product development programs and most top projects of the company.
