Analysis and interpretation of existing, newly enacted, and proposed state and federal legislation and regulation for policy, financial, and organizational impact on the SFMTA.• Supports in development and drafting of recommended policy positions on behalf of the SFMTA, including: letters of support, fact sheets, and language for legislation.• Secures letters of support for the Agency’s grant applications from elected officials.• Assists in developing the agency’s legislative program.• Participates in the Mayor Office’s State Legislation Committee (SLC), including in drafting forms to submit bills for positions and attending the committee to advocate for positions.• Assists in producing the State, Federal & Regional Government Affairs Update, which provides timely legislative, regulatory and budgetary information and updates to directors, senior management, the Mayor’s Office, the City Attorney’s office and the SFMTA Board of Directors on a bi-monthly basis.• Preparation of talking points and briefing materials for the Director of Transportation, executive staff, and MTA Board members in advance of meetings with elected officials and advocacy trips.• Assists with VIP visits, including logistical and administrative coordination.• Participates in legislative advocacy activities with outside organizations that SFMTA is a member such as: California City Transportation Initiative (CaCTI) and the California Transit Association (CTA).
