ABOUT ELEANOR DOWDING

I specialise in technical compliance, sustainability and client-preference strategy, working with fund management groups, DFMs and advice firms to build processes and propositions that are commercially strong, robust and aligned to evolving client expectations. I am a member of the FCA Sustainable Finance Advisory Committee. The Committee plays an important role in advising the FCA board on sustainable finance-related issues, including emerging trends and strategic developments, in line with FCA objectives.·My consultancy work focuses on helping firms modernise advice and proposition design, including:·Fund groups and DFMs - strengthening governance, refining SDR and Consumer Duty alignment, developing preference-aligned propositions, reviewing fund and MPS documentation, and improving how client preferences and objectives are reflected in suitability narratives through the distribution chain. ·Advice firms and networks - embedding structured preference conversations, improving workflow design, and ensuring consistency across advice processes. ·Cross-industry development - shaping tools, templates and behavioural frameworks that make client-centred, evidence-based advice easier to deliver at scale.·At In Accord, as Co-Founder and Director, I lead strategic and technical delivery across consultancy projects, the Client Preference Programme, market-wide suitability resources, and CPD development. My work sits at the intersection of regulation and commercial strategy, bridging the gap between high-level expectations and practical implementation.·My approach is direct, technical and grounded in real-world advice processes. I help firms reduce risk and build propositions and governance models that reflect how clients think today and how the market will operate tomorrow.·If your organisation is reviewing its proposition, strengthening SDR or Consumer Duty alignment, or looking for strategic consultancy support around client-preference integration, I’m always open to a conversation.
