ABOUT ELLIS SMITH
Ellis serves as director of intergovernmental and external affairs in Mayor Tim Kelly\'s office at the City of Chattanooga. He has also served as the director of special projects, and has twice served as the interim communications director. Prior to working with Tim Kelly, Ellis served stints as the CMO for Tim Kelly\'s Chattanooga businesses, as well as General Manager of Media at FreightWaves, where his team scaled FreightWaves\' media business into the largest transportation media business in the world, and launched the first TV network dedicated to freight. Before Freightwaves, he was editor and general manager at The Hawk Eye, Iowa\'s oldest newspaper, served as digital editor for the Chattanooga Times Free Press, and in other roles at the Times Free Press he covered business, technology and regulatory issues. He has also appeared regularly on local TV and radio stations to offer perspectives on the news.
