ABOUT ELLIOTT ENGLISH

I am a highly enthusiastic and intellectually curious person looking for opportunities in an agile scrum or data and operations management. For the right roles, I could dig back in as a technical expert in Excel, VBA, or SQL. It seems clear that data teams can and should be implementing best practices from Agile, XP and DevOps, and then Agile should and can use system dynamics and TOC to focus efforts. My main competency is in the realm of learning and adaptation. I\'ve worked in a broad range of structures and domains and in several countries and cultures. To me, all roles can be approached as new linguistic territory. Considering that, at root, most organisations simply use the English language and Microsoft office for most tasks. Beyond that core, mastering the most important 500 or so words or concepts (including those of local software systems) rapidly, and all else, can flow naturally. All the rest is human factors and skill-based with listening core among EQ attributes. In my opinion, as someone who has been a hiring manager and mastered a number of domains, we overcomplicate the process. When I hire, I simply want a combination of EQ, integrity, work ethic and alacrity. If I\'m hiring a junior manager, I would like experience in management, but I\'ll take a great philosophical approach over lots of experience in rigid methods or mindset every time.
