About Ellie Fox

My name is Ellie Fox, and I’m a Neuroscience and Medical Humanities double major at the College of Wooster. I’m on the Public Health Pathway and serve as a Public Health Pathway Peer Advisor. Growing up in Jakarta and Taiwan, I saw firsthand how culture, access, and community shape a person’s experience of health. Those early experiences sparked my interest in medicine and continue to guide my commitment to equitable, compassionate care. I hope to work in pediatrics, where I can integrate medicine, ethics, and advocacy to support children—especially those in underserved communities. My goal is to become a physician who not only treats illness but also understands each child’s story, environment, and needs. My dedication to patient‑centered care has been shaped by roles that allowed me to work closely with children, families, and individuals with diverse health needs. Through the Down Syndrome mentorship club, I’ve built meaningful relationships with children and young adults, supporting their social, emotional, and developmental growth. Volunteering with Rachel House, a pediatric hospice organization in Indonesia, deepened my understanding of dignity, comfort, and family‑centered care at the most vulnerable stages of life. These experiences taught me how to listen deeply, advocate thoughtfully, and show up with empathy—skills I hope to carry into pediatrics. Now, as a Health Coach in Wooster, Ohio, I’ve worked with patients navigating chronic health conditions. This role strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and translate complex health information into practical, empowering steps. It also taught me how to support people through change—something essential in pediatric care, where development, family dynamics, and environment all shape health outcomes. I’ve also gained hands‑on experience through focused internships, public health initiatives, research, and my involvement in the Wooster First Responders Club. On campus, I’m active in Health Coach, FRC, WASU, Life Crew, and APEX. I balance an academic load of 23 credits per semester while consistently earning Dean’s List and Academic Honor Roll recognition. As a six‑time All‑Ohio student‑athlete, I’ve developed resilience, discipline, and a strong work ethic—qualities that ground both my academic and clinical pursuits.

Experience

  1. Blood Donor Ambassador

    American Red Cross

Jun 2025 — Present · Wooster, OH, US

As a Blood Donor Ambassador, I supported donor registration and engagement at community blood drives, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. I greeted donors, provided pre-donation information, and monitored post-donation recovery areas to ensure donor well-being. I also coordinated with medical staff to address donor needs and assisted with scheduling and site setup. Through this role, I developed strong communication and crisis-management skills, helping increase donor retention and streamline event flow. Highlight: Assisted in organizing a multi-site donor event that exceeded its collection goal by 15%.
