Sweet Grown Alabama enhances marketing opportunities for Alabama farmers by connecting retailers and consumers to Alabama-grown agricultural products. As Director, I manage all aspects of the program. Accomplishments include-Led effort to begin new state agricultural branding program with Department of Agriculture and Alabama Farmers Federation staff, including initial program legal, financial and structural components-Recruited more than 300 new members and 11 sponsors to join since September 2019-Grew social media followers from zero to over 7,500 in one year-Over 25 digital media appearances including television, radio and podcast interviews in first year-Planned and successfully executed events including annual farm to table dinner events with 150-250 participants; annual Legislative Luncheon; 2020 Kickoff Event which included a press conference with Gov. Ivey and farmers market with over 30 vendors in Downtown Montgomery and moreOngoing Responsibilities-Hire and supervise employees including assistant director and summer intern team-Manage finances, including accepting payments, paying invoices, monthly payroll and balancing annual budget-Create and execute annual strategic plan with 19 program objectives and more than 50 specific tactics-Lead Board of Directors in setting program goals, budget and structure-Develop and maintain relationships with legislators across Alabama-Execute robust media relations strategy including media advisories, news/radio/tv appearances, etc-Speak to groups about Sweet Grown Alabama and buying local an average of two to three times per month-Supervise and approve content generation for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter-Edit monthly e-newsletter compiled by assistant director-Write, edit and send press releases to educate consumers and highlight Alabama farmers-Oversee website updates and provide content ideas and direction

Furthering the agricultural industry is my primary career goal. Having grown up on a farm, I have a passion for promoting agriculture through my speaking, relationship building, program planning and communications skills. I have an interest in governmental affairs primarily to ensure farmers have a voice in the Statehouse and are protected from regulatory overreach. Outside of agriculture, I have a conviction to advocate for Alabama\'s foster children and families.
