As part of my Master of Social Work (MSW) program at The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, I am completing a field placement at ThedaCare. This internship provides hands-on experience in a hospital setting-Shadow hospital social workers to observe patient care processes, including documentation, admissions, and rounds-Learn to navigate the EPIC electronic health record system from a social work perspective-Observe trauma patient admissions and the coordination of care between departments-Attend medical rounds and interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient updates and care plans-Participate in discussions around complex or high-needs patient cases during clinical briefings-Gain insight into hospital classification levels (Tier 1, 2, and 3) and their implications for patient care-Learn how social workers assess needs, coordinate discharge planning, and advocate for patients in a healthcare setting
