In this role, I support the Haematology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) at Addenbrookes Hospital. I monitor and prepare clinics, during which I notify CNS about imaging, treatment dates and pre-clinic tests. I organise clinic lists, including advising the reception team on where and when to book patients. I liaise with patients and staff to chase results, send reminders and field queries, while ensuring that patients are booked and have blood tests in a timely manner. As part of cover I run a clinic reception desk, process incoming referrals for triage and discuss these with patients, consultants, nurses and GPs. I use the Epic and eRS systems, and communicate using MyChart, post, email and phone. Additional projects include auditing clinic list templates, and ensuring that patients and consultants complete consent forms for changing brands of medication.
