ABOUT ELLEN BERLIN
A seasoned communications leader with more than three decades of experience, I specialize in media relations, reputation management, thought leadership, and stakeholder engagement. I excel at navigating high-profile issues and aligning communications strategies with organizational goals. My career has focused on creating compelling narratives and cultivating meaningful connections between organizations and their audiences. For over 11 years, I have led external communications at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, directing a media relations team that is committed to elevating the Institute’s pioneering research and exceptional clinical care. These efforts have been strategically focused on achieving impactful national and local media coverage to enhance the organization’s visibility and influence. I successfully lead and implement multi-channel communications strategies for institutional announcements, executive transitions, enterprise initiatives, research developments, treatment trends, and more, leveraging traditional, digital, and social media platforms to expand the organization’s reach. Prior to my recent role at Dana-Farber, I was a Vice President at Weber Shandwick Worldwide where I developed and implemented strategic communications activities for various healthcare and corporate clients. For more than 13 years I led the internal and external communications activities at Boston Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine. I began the role after the merger of Boston City and Boston University Medical Center Hospital and focused the media activities on building awareness of the new hospital and its academic faculty. I was the spokesperson on a number of high profile issues and executive transitions, including crisis situations. Earlier in my career, I held public affairs roles at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation. I hold a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts in public communication from American University.
