About Ellen Hives

Ellen Hives became Regional Law Leader for EY in 2022. Previously, she was a Partner in the Technology, Media & Entertainment practice of EY, where she was responsible for practice strategy, business and talent development in the Content, Technology and Information Services sector. She has more than 30 years’ experience serving technology and media companies facing disruption, transformation, and rapidly evolving customer expectations. Her experience ranges from designing and implementing enterprise technology solutions to running global transformations and leading global account teams who serve market leading global accounts. She originally joined EY in 1985, was named partner in 1997 and moved to Capgemini in as Vice President of Media & Entertainment. She returned to EY in 2010. She is widely acknowledged among her colleagues as a sought-after strategist and developer of holistic solutions rooted in financial and operational discipline. In her work, Ellen is a strong mentor and advocate for her team members, with a special focus on developing skills and opportunities for talented professionals who may benefit from additional support. She is a committed coach and mentor to EY’s aspiring partners and staff. In addition, she is passionate about a number of social and community issues, including food and housing programs and education for the underprivileged, women’s health advocacy, and access to New York City’s arts and culture opportunities. Her current not-for-profit involvements include serving as a member of the Board of the WNET Group and on its Education and Nominating Committees; and an iMentor coach for college-readiness programs. Among a number of honors recognizing Ellen’s business and community contributions, she was selected in 2015 by Consulting Magazine as one of the “Top 25” consultants in the technology and media industry. In 2010, the Women’s Venture Fund honored her with the Highest Leaf Award for her leadership in mentoring other women. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College and has participated in several leadership programs including EY/INSEAD Executive Leadership program at London School of Economics and Journey to the Boardroom at Harvard.
